The Steps of Isha map-pack offered us a unique opportunity to create a series of maps that were focused on a theme and maintain that theme through the visual look of the four maps. Normally when we create a map, it either needs to match the look of the campaign map geography or it’s designed to work with the narrative and structure of a quest battle. When we were faced with the task of creating a new map pack for Make War Not Love, we had none of the normal constraints. Instead, we needed maps that would feel totally unique. We knew we had to make the maps visually impressive, tactically interesting, and somehow tie into Valentine’s Day in the process, while feeling like they belong in the Warhammer world. Below we’ll discuss how we got from a single idea to full implementation.

The Laboratory offers a brand new free game mode for Total War: WARHAMMER II, designed in collaboration with Intel®. It introduces a custom battle playground with 16 different sliders to tinker and play with to push your battles to new and ridiculous levels of mayhem.
It’s been a very busy year at CA, what with WARHAMMER II’s launch, a string of announces for new historical games, and not forgetting Halo Wars 2 in February as well. In line with our long-term plans to make more games in parallel, we’ve also welcomed many new members to the CA family. It’s going to be another interesting year ahead.
It’s quite exciting to go back to ROME II with Empire Divided. We’ve seen pleasantly surprised reactions from Total War players across the board, especially from historical fans who may have been feeling a little left out over the course of WARHAMMER I and II. Mortal Empires: Reprisal Update beta
The Reprisal Update beta brings a host of content changes from WARHAMMER 1’s Foundation Update to the Mortal Empires campaign in WARHAMMER 2.
November has been announcemageddon for CA, to be sure. With the Empire Divided Campaign Pack for ROME II plus our first Total War Saga title Thrones of Britannia both in the works, it would be easy to think we’re in some way sidelining WARHAMMER II, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Released in under a month on the 28th September, we are pleased to say that at this point Total War: WARHAMMER II is the most pre-ordered Total War game to date.
“We’re in the final stage of development now and very excited by the comments coming out of our closed testing and mock reviews,” said Rob Bartholomew, Brand Director, “loads of love for the new features, races and the sheer volume of gameplay. Great to see that expectation reflected in the number of pre-orders being placed, it really helps motivate us for that final push.”
With the game now nearing release, system specs and a range of new graphical features to enrich players’ experiences in the New World can be revealed.

The Dark Elves are voracious raiders who ply their bloody trade across the length and breadth of the world. They take whatever they want and will gladly risk their lives for the promise of glory, power and riches. All Elves are taller than humans and of a slender but strong build. They are long-limbed and graceful, with slim, adept fingers. Their eyes are large and oval, containing a disturbing, otherworldly wisdom that unnerves other creatures. For the Dark Elves, a cold beauty masks the natural attractiveness of their race and a scowl or sneer often mars the pale skin of their elegant faces. They are, for the most part, dark-haired and sinister, and their bleak stares convey nothing but contempt.
