Steam F.A.Q

In order to play Napoleon: Total War™ you will need to authenticate your copy of the game by registering it online with the free STEAM gaming service.

You only need to connect to the internet once to do this and the installer will take you through the process when you put the Napoleon: Total War™ disc in your drive.

If you don't already have a free Steam account, you will need to create one, and this will give you access to some amazing new features described in the 'But what is Steamworks?' section.

The Napoleon: Total War™ game activation is subject to your acceptance of the Steam Subscriber Agreement ("SSA").

Please see http://www.steampowered.com/agreement to view the SSA prior to purchase. If you do not agree with the provisions of the SSA, you should return the game unopened to your retailer in accordance with their return policy.

But what is Steamworks?

Steamworks will support both the retail and electronic versions of Napoleon: Total War™, giving you fast access to game updates and downloadable content, while also connecting to your existing STEAM friends list and messaging tools.

You can also earn STEAM Achievements in-game, perfect for bragging rights on the rest of your friends list.

Napoleon: Total War™ is also available to pre purchase as a digital download from STEAM.

So whether you purchase a boxed copy of Napoleon: Total War™ or the buy directly via STEAM as a digital download - you will enjoy all the benefits of Steamworks.

Release Dates and Activation Times

If you have purchased Napoleon as a digital download or a boxed copy:

You will be able to activate your digital download or boxed copy and play Napoleon on Tuesday 23rd February from 08:00 PST.
How to unlock your exclusive units in Napoleon: Total War™?
If you have purchased the Napoleon: Total War™ Standard/ Imperial Edition or received an exclusive pre-order unit via participating retail outlets, you will need to connect to the internet, redeem your code through Steamworks and easily unlock your units for use in game.
1. Install Napoleon and the Steam client as per instructions included with the game.
2. Launch the Steam client and select "Activate a product on Steam..." under the "Games" menu.
3. Step through the Steam Product activation wizard, entering the product code as prompted.
4. The units will then become available in Napoleon's single-player campaign/ battle modes and multiplayer under certain conditions - see 'Where do these units appear in the game?' section.

Multiplayer and single player battle modes

As long as you have properly unlocked these exclusive units through Steam, they will be available in multiplayer and single player battle modes when playing with the appropriate factions.
Do you need to be connected to the internet to play Napoleon: Total War™?

You will need to connect to the internet to authenticate Napoleon: Total War™ via Steamworks. If you play the game in single player you will not be required to be connected to the internet.

If you wish to download the latest updates, exclusive units or play a multiplayer game of Napoleon: Total War™, you will need to be connected to the internet.
Do you need to download or install any additional programs to authenticate Napoleon: Total War™?

Steamworks activates and launches your copy of Napoleon: Total War™. If you don�t already have Steam installed, everything you need to play will be included on the Napoleon: Total War™ disc and will be installed as part of the standard, step-by-step, installation procedure.
