ALEXANDER INSTALL ISSUES

It has come to our attention that the space requirement test on installation always checks the C: drive for space rather than the target drive directory. Alexander requires approximately 451MB of free drive space so this must be free on your C: drive regardless of where the original game was installed to. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

We've had a number support queries with the Alexander expansion that can easily be solved by ensuring that you have the correct version of Rome: Total War before installing Alexander. Here's a guide... If you have Barbarian Invasion please check what version you are running (start the game go to the option screen, it's displayed in the top right). If you have 1.6 you can install Alexander. If you have 1.4 please download and install the 1.6 patch before installing Alexander. Links to all the patches can be found below.

For those of you without Barbarian Invasion please do the following before trying to install Alexander. Start the game go to the option screen, it's displayed in the top right. If you are running 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2 please download and install patch 1.3 and then download and install patch 1.5. If you are already running 1.3, please download and install 1.5. Once you have done this you can then install Alexander. Links to all the patches can be found below.

You can get 1.3 below. Please make sure you download the correct version for your region. If you are running the game in English (i.e. U.S. Australia U.K. etc then download the English version):

Please note that Rome: Total War^TM - Gold Edition is already patched and does not require any further patching.

ROME: TOTAL WAR^TM V1.3 PATCH RELEASED

This fixes several issues and allows online play with users running the BI expansion pack. You do not need this patch if you have already purchased and installed the Barbarian Invasion expansion pack.

ROME: TOTAL WAR^TM PATCH v1.2 EDITOR DOCUMENTATION

These documents describe how to use some of the new features available in the new Rome: Total War^TM v1.2 Patch. The features described here are for advanced users only and are NOT SUPPORTED by the developers or Activision. You will need V1.2 of the patch installed to use these features. ROME: TOTAL WAR^TM PATCH v1.5 RELEASED

This patch is for the English, Spanish, French, German and Italian versions of Rome: Total War. You need to upgrade your version of RTW to version 1.3 before you install the 1.5 patch. If you do not, the patching process will not work and your game is unlikely to function. This readme details the main fixes made to the game. Other minor fixes and balances have been carried out. If you have Barbarian Invasion installed then you only need to install v1.6

BARBARIAN INVASION PATCH v1.6 RELEASED

This patch is for the English, Spanish, French, German and Italian versions of Barbarian Invasion. There are a numerous areas of code that were looked at for the patch fix. Check the readme for details.

CRASH TO DESKTOP (Polish versions only)

We have had reports on some crashes to desktop. This only affects the Polish version of Barbarian Invasion. The game crashes during the PC's turn after Year 367, mostly during the turn of the Western Empire in all campaigns except Huns, although this could happen under other conditions not yet detected. Download this file, by right-clicking the link and choosing save as, and put it in the following directory (over-write the file of the same name which is already there).

This only affects the Italian version of Barbarian Invasion. The game crashes during a campaign around 256 BC, although this could happen under other conditions not yet detected. Download this file, by right-clicking the link and choosing save as, and put it in the following directory (over-write the file of the same name which is already there).
